Violence erupted in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, when hundreds took to the streets to protest against the remobilization of the national army. Opponents of the Haitian President Jovenel Moise burned a truck and set fires, after marching through the streets to demand an end to government corruption and widespread violence. Moise officially reintroduced the country's army on Saturday during a ceremony in Cap Haitien to commemorate the 214th anniversary of the battle for independence from France. Former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide demobilized the army in 1994 upon his return from exile.
