We open with a look at Chinese President Xi Jinping's ongoing state visit to Rwanda. President Xi is the first-ever Chinese president to visit the central-eastern African country. Xi says that ties between the two nations have seen healthy and steady development in more than 47 years of diplomatic relations. Daniel Plafker has the story.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame welcomed President Xi at the airport, together with a group of local performers who beat drums and danced to greet the guests. Xi sent his sincere greetings and good wishes to the Rwandan people. Xi said he expects to have deep discussions with Kagame on China-Rwanda ties, China-Africa cooperation and other regional and international issues. Kagame believed Xi's visit to Rwanda will further push forward the friendly relationship between the two countries.
Before arriving in Rwanda, President Xi also made a state visit to Senegal. During his stay, the Chinese president and his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall attended a handover ceremony for the country's national wrestling arena. The aid project is the largest China has carried out in Senegal. At Sunday's ceremony, Xi Jinping handed the "golden key" of the arena over to Sall.
The two leaders also watched a show of traditional Senegalese wrestling. Sall extended thanks to China for building the arena. President Xi said China is ready to work with Senegal to promote further cooperation and cultural exchanges. Daniel Plafker, CGTN.
