Indian and Pakistani troops on Saturday again exchanged heavy fire in the disputed region of Kashmir.
In a statement, the Indian army said the Pakistani army fired without provocation across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, leaving one soldier dead.
On July 13, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry accused India of committing 542 ceasefire violations so far in 2017 resulting in the deaths of 18 people.

"All of a sudden firing began. You can image how much loss it would have caused. Our studies have suffered due to this continuous firing. We are facing lots of problems," said Shamim Akhter, a resident in Kashmir.
An increase in the ceasefire violations on the LoC has been recorded since July 8. Several people have reportedly been killed, despite an agreement in 2003 that a ceasefire should be observed along the working boundary.
Kashmir, the Himalayan region divided between India and Pakistan, is claimed by both in full. Since their independence from Britain, the two countries have fought three wars, two exclusively over Kashmir.
