We stay with swimming for a closer look at Joseph Schooling. The 23 year old has won two golds for Singapore at these Asian Games which represents his return to form after a rough patch following the 2016 Rio Olympics where he won the first gold medal for his country. Daniel Plafker has the story.
Schooling ended China's dream of winning the men's 50 meter butterfly for the fourth consecutive Asian Games when he claimed the second gold medal for Singapore in the event, the only two golds that weren't won by China or Japan in swimming.
Schooling became famous after defeating swimming legend Michael Phelps in the 100 meter butterfly at the 2016 Rio Olympics to win Singapore's first gold medal while also setting a Games record. But the young man who beat his idol later disappointed by only winning bronze in the same event last year at the Budapest World Championships.
And that's what Schooling. The 23-year-old has already been through a period of high and low points in his career which have changed his purpose when competing.
The next major challenge will of course be the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where Schooling will try again to prove himself again on the world's biggest stage.
Schooling is also set to feature in the men's 4x100 meter medley relay on Friday, the final day of the swimming competition at the Asian Games. But he will need to build on his positive results in Jakarta to reach new heights in the pool. Daniel Plafker, CGTN.
