A week-long hot air balloon festival in Lingwu city, northwestern China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region blew to a close on Sunday.
Over 100 pilots with 32 hot air balloons, along with six delta wing aircraft, have taken part in the event, which began on July 31 in the Baijitan National Desert Park.
One of the most eye-catching activities held at the event was a hot air balloon flight competition.
"People say, throughout your life, you may never fly a hot air balloon on one same track once again. So, each flight for me is full of novelty and the unknown," said Cheng Peng, a hot air balloon pilot with 14 years of experience.
Apart from watching the flight competition, visitors also had the opportunity to board the hot air balloons and delta wing aircraft to get a bird's eye view of the breathtaking scenery of the desert park.
"I came from Zhengzhou city to watch the flight of hot air balloons. I thought I wouldn't be brave enough to take such a flight. But the moment I got on it, I found it very interesting," said a visitor surnamed Wu from central China's Henan Province.
