One of China's strategic oil storage bases is in Zhejiang province. There are 55 oil storage tanks in Zhoushan. They can be filled with up to 2.5 million cubic meters of crude oil - enough to sustain all of China for seven days. The biggest tank is 23 meters high and can be filled with enough oil to fill 40 swimming pools. The base is capable of loading and unloading oil tankers carrying more than 370-thousand tons of crude. Each of the three oil transfer arms can unload 3-thousand cubic meters of oil per hour. The port at the base can hold two large-scale crude carriers. It's also equipped with a fire extinguishing system. The port was built more than two decades ago. More than 20-thousand ships dock there each year.
