The Terracotta Army remained untouched underground for more than 2,200 years. Local farmers discovered it by chance while digging a well in 1974. China's first emperor Qin Shihuang created the army. He started its construction in 246 B.C. after he ascended the throne. Seven hundred thousand laborers completed the army in 40 years. /Xinhua Photo
