A total of 61 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, and many others in Hebei and Henan provinces in north and central China, saw their 2017 in under cover of smog.

Beijing issued an orange alert for air pollution last Thursday, said the air pollution will last until 12 p.m. on January 4.

Heavy polluting vehicles and trucks carrying construction waste will be banned from roads and some manufacturing firms will cut production.
