Sand painting has been around for centuries but the modern form of sand animation was created by Hungarian artist Ferenc Cako. It came to China around 2004 and has grown in popularity since then. Now many Chinese spend thousands of yuan every year to learn this art form. Some learn for fun while others learn to become teachers and performers. CGTN’s Hu Chao has the story.
