China will compete in the wheelchair curling final at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, guaranteeing its first-ever medal at the event.
With Wang Haitao’s last shot, which managed to thread through a sea of stones, China clinched a 4-3 victory against defending champions Canada in the semi-final. The win sets China up for a meeting with Norway in the final on Saturday.
After the game, Wang, captain of the Chinese team, said: "I feel happy and excited that we have ensured our country a Paralympics medal. I think my last throw was quite good. I took a lot time to think about our strategy before my throw, and it was the right decision, because we succeeded."
