Sporting action begins even before Olympics ceremony

While the opening ceremony of PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games is being held at the open-air PyeongChang Olympic Stadium Friday night, some sports events like Alpine Skiing, have already started on Friday.
In Friday's Curling Mix Doubles Round Robin session, China lost 4-10 to Canada. In other matches, Norway beat South Korea 8-3, Switzerland defeated the United States 9-4 for the third straight win, and Olympic athletes from Russia outclassed Finland 7-5.

The team events of Figure Skating have been competitive. The Canadian pair took the lead after the pairs and men's short programs’ competition. The US was ranked the second, with Japan and Russia both finished in the third place. 
China came in the sixth as Yu Xiaoyu and Zhang Hao finished the fifth in pairs while Yan Han ranked the seventh with 77.10 points in the men's.
