Chinese State Council appoints senior HK officials

China’s State Council on Wednesday appointed key officials to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region based on nominations made by Chief Executive-elect Carrie Lam. 
Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen, Chief Secretary for Administration Cheung Kin-chung, and Financial Secretary Chan Mo-po will remain in their respective posts.
Other positions approved by the State Council include the Director of Immigration, Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Director of Audit, and Police Commissioner. 
The State Council is responsible for appointing major officials in key government departments of Hong Kong.
According to the Basic Law, the newly-appointed officials will take office on July 1.
