Over the past four decades, China's forest area has grown to about 22 percent. Going green is now ingrained into the nation's philosophy and that is reflected at the International Horticulture Expo in Beijing. CGTN's Yang Chengxi takes us there.
YANG CHENGXI BEIJING "I've spent two days at the horticulture expo. My assessment so far there are just so many things to see!"
YANG CHENGXI BEIJING "This is the garden of Zhejiang, one of the economic powerhouse provinces of China and it has a long history of a distinctively eastern China's style of horticulture."
ZHU YUNFENG, DEPUTY CHIEF ZHEJIANG FOREST SEED "We have over 600 kinds of plants here, including precious protected species."
It literally takes days to absorb all the beauty, but behind the bright colors and fragrance, it's the green philosophies on display.
ZHU YUNFENG, DEPUTY CHIEF ZHEJIANG FOREST SEED "Our province has a green development path. We want these sceneries to be a part of life for people."
YANG CHENGXI BEIJING "Experts say that is the idea behind this big showcase in Beijing: the countries can in fact grow the economy and go green at the same time."
