Australia’s government says a temporary ban on some meat exports to China could cost the industry more than 100 million Australian dollars in business.
China announced the ban last month after it says it found an issue with labeling of some Australian meats.
Almost one billion Australian dollars’ worth of red meat goes to China. That’s why China’s decision last month to temporarily ban some Australian meat imports has come at such a high cost.
The ban was put in place after Chinese regulators noticed inconsistencies in some of the meat labeling.
The Australian government says it is working with its Chinese counterpart to resolve any concerns surrounding red meat exports as quickly as possible.
