Reporter's Diary: Food delivery on the Fuxing bullet train

I have never been on a high-speed train before – so when I was assigned to cover and tell the story of the Fuxing bullet train I was really excited. I was even more excited when I learned that the Fuxing isn't just any other train – it’s the world’s fastest, traveling at 350km/h.
On a Friday afternoon we set off for Shanghai from Beijing.
You can imagine the route was pretty busy – perhaps the busiest in China and since it was the Spring Festival, one of China's peak travel seasons.
The train was very sophisticated – cool seats, lots of leg room, wifi, and now you can also order food along the way through a new service.
The service by China Railway Corporation was launched several months ago – and it's quickly catching on.
The service offers a variety of options including fast food. That day, I ordered from the Nanjing station. Because I'm a foreigner, I chose one of the most popular dishes – Nanjing duck.
This was about an hour before we arrived at Nanjing.
Before we arrived, I enjoyed the scenery and conversations with my fellow passengers. My colleague Han Peng was on the other side, following through with my order and also getting a glimpse of what it means to operate the delivery service.
“The moment Jane made the order, the clock began ticking at this restaurant near the Nanjing railway station," Han said. "They are literally racing against the world's fastest train."
According to Han, the service is all about efficiency and mouth-watering meals, at least I thought it was, going by the taste of the Nanjing Duck which Han delivered to my seat.
