Mr Chen, a 37-year-old pilot from southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, said he did this for his son.

The performance was part of the opening ceremony of a sports competition at his son’s school. To learn more about other cultures, pupils were encouraged to dress up in distinctive outfits from different countries.
When asked about whether it would be awkward to dress up like that in front of the whole school, the dad said that he did not care. “It’s worth the effort as long as this becomes a great childhood memory for my son,” he said.

“In fact I am quite busy and I usually only get one or two days off a week,” said Mr Chen, “but I would never miss seeing him grow.”
Mr Chen's performance was applauded by the audience, and as soon as the video surfaced online, netizens were quick to show their support.
A netizen, @ijdaxiaojie, said, “This dad is so great! I guess his child must be proud of him.”

There is a similar video showing a dad practicing his dance moves in a living room in southwest China’s Guizhou Province earlier this month. According to his wife, Mrs Liu, who recorded this video, he had never danced before.

“It’s for our 3-year-old daughter’s kindergarten performance,” said Mrs Liu. “It will be her first sports competition and parents have been asked to join a group dance with kids. We want to show her our support.”
