The Chinese Foreign Ministry has rejected Trump's allegations that China steals intellectual property. The ministry spokesperson said China has always taken measures to drive innovation and protect intellectual property.
HUA CHUNYING, SPOKESPERSON CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY "A report from the World Intellectual Property Organization said China's Intellectual Property Office received over 1.3 million patent applications. That number is much higher than the combined applications from the US, Japan, South Korea and the European Union. The report also pointed out that China will likely be the largest source of patent applications in the coming years. China is firmly implementing an innovation-driven development strategy. China has been leading in terms of high-speed railways, quantum communications and electronic payments. Our achievements in innovation were not stolen from other countries. The US allegations that China is stealing intellectual property are totally groundless and unacceptable."
