China will endeavor to build itself into a leading world cyber power by 2035, said Miao Yu, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), on Monday.
He noted that the country aims to advance the development of IT and Internet applications in the coming years.

To achieve this goal, China is set to launch a series of strategic projects, including seeking more breakthroughs in key technology and accelerating the upgrading of the Internet, Miao said.
In his opinion, deeper integration between the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and manufacturing should be encouraged. Meanwhile, more guidelines for spurring the digital economy will be introduced as well, he added, promising to strengthen regulations to better protect private information and online data.
While the spread of high-tech, such as big data and AI, is reviving traditional industries, the booming digital economy is significantly reshaping China’s economic landscape as well.

According to the World Internet Developing Report 2017 released in December, there were 3.89 billion Internet users around the world as of June 2017, of which 751 million were in China. This enormous number of web users has created significant opportunities for risk takers in e-commerce, mobile payments and other emerging areas to take their chances.
At present, the average speed of 4G technology has increased 30 percent in 2017 compared to that of last year, said the MIIT.
