A man was arrested on Monday on suspicions of killing a Chinese woman in her apartment in Cobb County in the US state of Georgia, the Chinese Consulate General in Houston has confirmed.
The victim, a 28-year-old Chinese woman who is an alumna of the Georgia Institute of Technology, was found dead in her apartment on Sept. 18.
Police have identified 24-year-old Brian Marsh Semrinec as the main suspect and offered a reward of up to 2,000 US dollars for information leading to his whereabouts, local media reported.
The incident comes just months after Zhang Yingying, a Chinese scholar studying at the University of Illinois, went missing on June 9.
A man has been arrested in connection with her disappearance, but Zhang has not yet been found.
