The Tiangong-1, or "Heavenly Palace 1", made important contributions to China's manned space programm.
Launched in 2011, the Tiangong-1 was China's first space lab. The space station was first docked with unmanned spacecraft Shenzhou 8. One year later, it was docked with Shenzhou 9 with three-person crew on board including the first Chinese woman in space. The Tiangong-1 was China's first step toward building its own space station by 2022.
