The Shanghai TV Festival has kicked off with a summit gathering China's major television chiefs. And our reporter Shen Li is at the venue with updates on what has been discussed and some upcoming highlights of this year's TV festival.
SHEN LI SHANHGAI "TV Station Directors' Summit officially kicked off the 21st Shanghai International TV Festival. The forum is themed 'Leading Power of Mainstream Media' and will see directors from major TV stations giving keynote speeches, sharing their experience, focusing on ways public media stations can enhance their educational content and services for new, diverse generations. During the 5-day event, more forums will be held where domestic and foreign industry leaders will share views on broadcasting platforms, TV dramas, variety shows and documentaries and animations demonstrating all-ranging aspects of today's TV industry. Also on the 12th, a rep carpet event and a ceremony celebrating the 60th anniversary of Chinese TV series is scheduled to take place at Shanghai Oriental Art Center. Rumor has it that there will be a special section dedicated to China's four major literary classics, namely Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West, Dream of the Red Chamber, Outlaws of the Marshe. The original cast of the four TV shows will make a surprise appearance, surely to evoke some nostalgic experience for many Chinese audience. Also something to look forward to is the Magnolia awards ceremony, to be held on the 15th. We'll bring you more updates as the festival unfolds.
