Six Pakistani candidates on Monday filed nomination papers for prime ministerial elections to be held on Tuesday.
The candidates included Pakistan's premier designate and three opposition lawmakers.
Last week, the country’s Supreme Court ruled that three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from office after a probe determined that Sharif’s family had concealed their assets.
Sharif loyalist Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is almost certain to win the vote as the ruling Pakistan Muslim League held a comfortable majority.
