China's Western Returned Scholars Association kicked off its second China-France Cultural Forum on Sunday.
This year's event centers around the cultural aspects of China's Belt and Road Initiative. About 150 scholars from various fields including art, science and economics are taking part.
The event runs through Sept. 28 in the French city of Lyon.
It follows a similar event in Rome on Saturday. The 21st-century China-Italy Forum is in its 15th edition and is also focused on the Belt and Road Initiative.
Attending both events was Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and the president of the association.
China's ambassador to Italy and former Italian ambassador to China both spoke at the Italian forum.
The Western Returned Scholars Association was set up in 1913, and has about 80,000 members across China.
