Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told global business leaders and economists that China will conduct new reforms this year and continue to open up the market. CGTN's Ming Tian reports from Beijing.
MING TIAN BEIJING "Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met foreign delegates at the China Development Forum Monday in Beijing. They included Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Li said China would continue to open up and implement reforms this year. He said the policy serves China's own interests, and helps support free trade and globalization. The premier also said that US-China trade is complementary and benefits both sides. There are no winners in a trade war. Li pledged that China would not force foreign companies to transfer their technology, and would strengthen the protection of intellectual property. During the three-day event, officials emphasized China's pursuit of a higher quality economy rather than high growth rates. Chinese ministers responsible for trade, finance, industrial development, and economic planning also spoke at the event. Over 80 chief executives from Fortune 500 Companies took part in the forum, which aims to provide a platform for delegates to discuss the policies and messages coming out of China's recent Two Sessions.
