General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing Friday afternoon after concluding a two-day state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
During the visit, Xi met with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un. The two leaders had an in-depth exchange on China-DPRK relations and issues of common concern, and reached important consensus.
President Xi calls for political settlement to Korean Peninsula issue
The two sides agreed to make joint efforts to push for continuously new development of China-DPRK relations in the new era, constantly advance the political settlement process of the Korean Peninsula issue, bring more benefits to people of the two countries, and make positive contributions to peace, stability, prosperity and development of the region and the world.
The DPRK visit, Xi's first as CPC chief and Chinese head of state and also the first of its kind in 14 years, came as the two neighboring countries are celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
