Fifty-three African countries and the African Union Commission, along with coordinators from China, participated in the follow-up meeting.
China and the African countries have agreed to seek greater complementarity in each other's initiatives, namely the China-propsed Belt and Road Initiative and Agenda 2063 of the African Union (AU), while vowing to work towards a China-Africa community with a shared future that features joint responsibility, win-win cooperation, happiness for all, common cultural prosperity, common security, and harmonious co-existence.
The African countries have delivered their appreciation to China's commitment of pursuing the greater good and shared interests in its cooperation with African countries. "China has been very supportive," Nabeela Tunis, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, told CGTN when referring to China's assistance to her country.
