Huawei is willing to continue buying products from U.S. companies, said founder and CEO of the Chinese tech giant Ren Zhengfei on Tuesday, according to FT.

Ren's remark came after U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed that U.S. companies are allowed to sell products to Huawei during a press conference at the G20 summit in Osaka.

"President Trump's statements are good for American companies," Ren said, "But we don't see much impact on what we are currently doing. We will still focus on doing our own job right."

Trump said on Saturday the ban was unfair to U.S. suppliers, who were upset that they could not sell parts and components to Huawei without U.S. government approval. 

In May, Huawei was put on a U.S. list that restricts American tech firms such as Google from doing business with the Chinese telecom network equipment maker.  

In an earlier interview, Ren said that Huawei has become more united than ever because of the difficulties and external pressures, with staff members increasing by 6,000.  

"If we aren’t allowed to use U.S. components, we are very confident in our ability to use components made in China and other countries,” he said. 

Huawei has taken measures to achieve self-reliance, including developing its own operation system and back-up chips. 

Ren has also said that as long as U.S. companies were allowed to sell, Huawei would still buy from them even if it is able to make its own chips, as Huawei could not exist separately from others and had had good relationship with U.S. companies for decades.
