French President Emmanuel Macron said on Saturday he and Iran's President Hassan Rouhani had agreed to seek conditions for a resumption of dialogue on the Iran nuclear issue by July 15.

"The President of the Republic has agreed with his Iranian counterpart to explore by July 15 conditions to resume dialogue between the parties," Macron's office said in a statement.

The statement added Macron will keep on talking with Iranian authorities and other involved parties to "engage in a de-escalation of tensions related to Iranian nuclear issue."

"The president recalled his deep concern in the face of the risk of a new weakening of the 2015 nuclear accord, and the consequences that would necessarily follow,” said the statement.

"Lifting all sanctions against Iran can start new dynamics between Tehran and P5+1 countries,” Rouhani said, according to Iranian state television.

Iran’s expected announcement comes at a time of sharply increased U.S.-Iranian confrontation, a year after Washington quit the pact and reimposed sanctions that had been lifted under the accord in exchange for Tehran’s curbing its nuclear program.

The Iranians have demanded that the Europeans do more to save the deal by ensuring Iran gains economic benefits, notably badly needed oil revenue, which the United States has in particular targeted.

Iran may increase uranium enrichment to 5 pct from July 7: official

A senior Iranian official said Iran may increase the purity of its enriched uranium to five percent from the current 3.67 percent from July 7, Press TV reported Saturday.

The move, if implemented, would be part of Tehran's decision to reduce its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal, said Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to the Iranian supreme leader.

Iran can use the enriched uranium of five percent purity at Bushehr nuclear power plant which is totally peaceful, he added.

The higher purity of enriched uranium will also be useful for Iran's other "vital" industrial and energy needs, Velayati noted.
