Hundreds of Hong Kong residents visited the Central Police Satiation Saturday and rallied behind the police to show support for their great efforts in safeguarding Hong Kong's peace and stability amid weeks of violence.

Residents brought energy drinks, flowers, and cards to express their support to the strict law enforcement while condemning the violence, which is bad for Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. Some also brought their children to educate them about the wrongs of the protesters.

"In my family, we all signed our names in support of the police. The violence is bad for Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. We support the strict enforcement of laws," said Lai Chi-Kit, a family member of a police officer.

"Hong Kong cannot endure more riots, because, in the end, people will be harmed. We feel we must stop any violence and instability. We need to support the police. The Hong Kong police are a very good team. They are acting in a very restrained way," So Wing On, Board Chairperson of Cross-Strait Peaceful Development Federation told reporters.

Pang Fung Ngai, local resident, praised the police for their courage and professionality despite great pressure. "They are exercising restraint towards the rioters," she said.

She was referring to a comment made by the police that has been widely circulating online recently, which said that "the Hong Kong police have the capability to crack down on the rioters, but they are Chinese. We don't want to hurt them. It's really heartbreaking."

With the protests escalating, Hong Kong police face increasing pressure to maintain peace. Officers have been attacked, with some being targeted personally. A total of 139 police officers have been injured in the recent riots, said the Hong Kong police at a briefing on Friday.
