19th CPC Central Committee to hold 4th plenary session in October

The fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be held in October in Beijing, according to a decision made at a CPC Central Committee Political Bureau meeting on Friday. 

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

During the plenary session, the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau will report its work to the CPC Central Committee; participants will also discuss a number of important topics such as how to maintain and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and how to modernize China's system and capacity for governance. 

The third plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was held in late February last year.

In addition, Friday's meeting reviewed three documents regarding rules and regulations within the CPC. 

The system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the governance system with Chinese characteristics are rooted in China's land and deeply supported by the Chinese people, according to a statement released after the meeting. It said the systems can promote China's progress and development and facilitate the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. 

The world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century and China is in a crucial period for realizing national rejuvenation, the statement noted, calling for continuous efforts to meet the people's new expectations for a better life.
