By Zhu Yingming

As one of the famous ornamental flower species, the tassel dendrobium or Dendrobium fimbriatum can be found in southwest China and in other southeastern Asia countries.

The tassel dendrobium usually grows on trunks and in rock crevices in the warm and damp forests at an elevation between 600 and 1,700 meters.

It blossoms from April to June, and goes dormant in autumn and winter when the weather gets cold.

Its flowers, once cut off, can stay without withering for a couple of days, showing a strong vitality.

Some species in the dendrobium genus is considered the "Flowers for the Father's Day."

CGTN Nature film crew has captured its beauty in Maolan National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Guizhou Province.
