Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying reiterated the one-China principle, stating that the principle conforms to the international convention and trend at a press conference on Tuesday.
The remarks come after Solomon Islands' Deputy Foreign Minister Collin Beck told reporters that the so-called "diplomatic ties" between the Solomon Islands and Taiwan were stable.
According to Hua, the one-China principle is a widely-recognized norm in international relations.
"It is also the fundamental basis for China to establish and to develop ties with any other country," Hua added.
