China-Russia, China-DPRK diplomatic ties

This year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Russia, and China and the DPRK.

As each other's biggest neighbors and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and Russia enjoy healthy and stable ties.

China has been Russia's top trading partner for nine years running. Last year, two-way trade surged by 27.1 percent, breaking the 100-billion-U.S.-dollar mark for the first time.

In September, the two countries agreed to further enhance cooperation in trade, energy and other areas, setting a goal to double bilateral trade volume.

China and the DPRK are good neighbors with a well-established and long history of bilateral ties.

The two governing political parties and countries have maintained a tradition of high-level visits since forging diplomatic ties 70 years ago, and have conducted cooperation and exchanges in culture, education, science and technology, sports and other areas important to people's livelihoods.

President Xi met DPRK leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang in June, marking the fifth Xi-Kim meeting in 15 months and renewing the record since the establishment of ties between the countries 70 years ago.
