Bird of paradise: The plant with dramatic flowers

The bird of paradise is not a bird. It's a plant with dramatic-looking flowers resembling the head of a colorful bird.

Native to South Africa, it has been cultivated in many countries as a popular ornamental plant. It also thrives in Southern California, America due to the warm weather and is the official flower of Los Angeles. 

The bird of paradise loves the sun, so put it in a sunny spot. It's quite easy to grow, but won't survive when temperatures fall below 10 °C.
