China and India agreed to strengthen their partnership and build a high-level economic and trade dialogue mechanism to deepen economic cooperation further and develop more balanced trade and investment relations, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui said on Saturday.
Luo made the remarks at a press conference on Saturday to introduce the major results of Chinese President Xi Jinping's second informal meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai on October 11-12.
According to Luo, the two leaders reiterated the consensus reached during the first informal meeting in Wuhan last April and positioned each other factors for stability in the current international landscape.
The two sides recognized the common objective of promoting multilateralism and democratization of international relations, said Luo, adding that the two sides agreed to safeguard the common interests of developing countries with joint efforts.
Luo noted that with an in-depth exchange of views in the common vision of national development, the two leaders expressed their wiliness to support and enhance the rules-based multilateral trading system.
