A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Thursday called for more exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab states in broadcasting and television.

Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the fourth China-Arab States Broadcasting and Television Cooperation Forum in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

Before delivering his speech, Huang read Chinese President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to the forum, saying the letter showed the great importance attached to the friendship between China and Arab states. He also pointed out the direction for further cooperation and called to deepen exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab states in broadcasting and television.

At this new historical starting point, further strengthening the exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab states in culture, broadcasting and television is only expected, said Huang.

He also stressed more efforts to build consensus, publicize new achievements made jointly by China and Arab states in building the Belt and Road, and tell the stories of the civilizations, the peoples and the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.

During the forum, officials in related administrations of both sides, as well as representatives of media and film and television production organizations discussed topics including broadcasting and television policies, content creation and audio-visual communication, and capability building and industry development.

Over 300 guests from 19 countries and regions attended the forum.
