China wins first gold medal of 7th Military World Games

China won the first gold medal of the 7th Military World Games, at the 25m military pistol rapid fire men's team event at Caidian National Defense Park Shooting Venue, Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province on Saturday.

Chinese athletes Xie Zhenxiang, Jin Yongde, and Yao Zhaonan scored a total of 1,747 points and defended the champion title from the previous MWG held in Mungyeong, the Republic of Korea. Competing in the three relays, respectively, they scored 585, 583, and 579 points respectively. 

Jing Yongde, deputy captain and coach of the Bayi Shooting Team of Chinese People's Liberation Army, was also the second torchbearer in Friday night's opening ceremony. 

Teams of Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea claimed the second and third places in the team event.
