China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Jamaica in tackling climate change and advancing the implementation of the Paris climate accord, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness in Beijing on Friday.

Holness, who is on an official visit to China, said Jamaica is also willing to enhance communication and coordination with China in tackling climate change.

Premier Li called Jamaica an "important cooperation partner" of China in the Caribbean region, noting that the two countries elevated their ties to a strategic partnership earlier this week.

The Chinese premier called on the two sides to make more efforts to align their development strategies, adding that Beijing supports Chinese enterprises to engage in cooperation with the Jamaican side in areas such as infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and aquaculture.

China is willing to import more Jamaican products according to its market needs and boost exchanges and cooperation with Jamaica in tourism, education, sports and human resources training, among other fields.

Holness marveled at the achievements of China's development and hailed the robust relations between the two countries.

Jamaica is willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure, health, education, training and tourism, he told Li.
