China's Foreign Ministry said the Chinese ambassador to the UK would not accept "concerns" and "negotiations" from the UK side over the case of Simon Cheng, a former Chinese employee in Britain's Hong Kong Consulate.

Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the comment on Wednesday when answering questions about the Chinese envoy being summoned by the British government following reports of Cheng being "tortured" in detention in the Chinese mainland.

"I do not have information on our ambassador being summoned by the British Foreign Secretary yet, but I think the ambassador would definitely not accept the so-called 'concerns and negotiations' from the British side," Geng told reporters.

Cheng, a 28-year-old Hong Kong resident, was arrested in August and detained for 15 days for soliciting a prostitute in Shenzhen. He was released on August 24.

In an interview with the BBC, Cheng claimed he was "shackled, blindfolded and hooded" by police during his detention.
