Police will dispatch a security team entering into the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) as there are still protesters remaining at the campus, a local police officer briefed media on Monday about the latest situation on PolyU.

A security team consisting of negotiators, secondary school principals and social workers will be sent to PolyU campus to deal with those remaining protesters, said the official, stressing that the remaining protesters will receive necessary medical treatment first rather than immediate arrest.

Hong Kong police repeatedly appealed to those staying in the PolyU to leave in a peaceful manner, pledging to bring offenders to justice in a fair manner.

From Sunday afternoon, rioters occupied the PolyU, set a footbridge on fire and attacked an armored police vehicle with petrol bombs.
