The spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Britain on Tuesday lodged representations with officials of the British Foreign Office on the case of Simon Cheng Man-kit, expressing strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition as the British side "deliberately smeared and slandered standard Chinese law enforcement."

China demands the British side to immediately and publicly correct its mistakes, the official noted in a statement.

On August 9, Cheng was detained for 15 days for soliciting prostitutes in Luohu district of Shenzhen, a city bordering the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, read the statement.

Cheng has confessed to the wrongdoings. The facts of the case are clear and the evidence is conclusive, said the statement.
