China has zero-tolerance on doping, opposes the politicization of sports events and advocates ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of athletes, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying on a regular press briefing on Tuesday.
Hua's comments came in response to the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)'s decision that banned Russia from taking part in or hosting major international sporting events for four years over the country's doping non-compliance.
"We have noticed the ruling and Russia's response," said Hua, stressing that "Russia is an important member of the Olympic family which has made significant contributions to promoting the development of the Olympic cause."
