Chinese Premier Li Keqiang called for continued efforts in epidemic prevention and control in central China's Hubei Province, especially in Wuhan City.

Premier Li made the remarks while chairing a meeting on the battle against novel coronavirus on Thursday.

In response to the epidemic, the meeting called for increasing the number of beds and medical workers in hospitals, boosting support for medical personnel from 16 provinces, and ensuring medical supplies in virus-hit Wuhan.

Except Hubei Province, the number of new virus cases remains stable across the country, the meeting noted, urging more efforts in adequate distribution of resources to avoid unnecessary panic.

Meanwhile, it stressed that production of supplies needed to gradually return to normal as the country is seizing every minute to battle the virus.

As the leader of a central government group dedicated to Wuhan, Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan urged Wuhan to contain the epidemic at the root in a meeting held on Thursday.
