Summing up the achievements of 2019, China's top disciplinary body's work report disclosed China's progress in anti-corruption and fugitive repatriation.

Anti-corruption

The 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) investigated and dealt with 85,000 cases of corruption and misconduct in poverty alleviation nationwide last year, according to the 2019 work report published on Monday.

In addition, the CCDI stepped up its anti-corruption efforts in the financial sector, filing more than 6,900 cases of violations in the financial system.

Repatriation of fugitives

The "Skynet 2019" operation brought back 2,041 fugitives – four listed on the Interpol Red Notices for China's 100 most-wanted corrupt Chinese fugitives, and recovered ill-gotten gains worth of 5.42 billion yuan (770 million U.S. dollars). Of the total, 860 were the CPC party members and government officials.

The work report was delivered by Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CCDI, at the fourth plenary session of the 19th CCDI, which was held in Beijing in January.
