Wang Yi: China firmly supports Russia in combating COVID-19

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi highly valued China's relationship with Russia, reiterating China's firm support to Russia when Russia is facing pressure in epidemic prevention.

Wang made the remarks during a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday.

Wang spoke highly of the mutual support between the two countries since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that the assistance well indicated Russia's importance as China's comprehensive strategic partner of coordination for a new era.

Noting that the first batch of medical supplies from China along with a medical team have arrived in Moscow on Saturday, the Chinese foreign minister reiterated China's support for Russia, adding that the cooperation between the two sides on coronavirus is believed to further advance the bilateral ties.

Lavrov echoed Wang's comments. He praised China's achievement in combating the virus while condemning certain countries for politicalizing the pandemic and shirking responsibilities.

The two sides also agreed to enhance cooperation and exchanges on coronavirus prevention at borders and vowed to implement the consensuses made during the G20 summit and to tackle global challenges jointly.
