Wang Yi to attend video meeting with SCO FMs Wednesday

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend a video meeting with foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states on Wednesday, according to China's Foreign Ministry. 

The foreign ministers will exchange views on cooperation against the COVID-19, and the international and regional situation. 

The SCO issued a statement in February to support China's efforts against the virus, saying that the SCO member states welcome the Chinese government and people's decisive measures to battle against the coronavirus epidemic, and are willing to provide necessary assistance and develop close cooperation with China.

The SCO countries maintain close contact with one another at the level of heads of state, as well as heads of ministries and agencies responsible for health and security. It has implemented measures to provide humanitarian assistance.

On April 1, a meeting of experts from the ministries of health of SCO member states was held by videoconference, during which participants reviewed the epidemiological situation in the member states and discussed enhancing of cooperation and effective ways of treating patients.
