After a short clip of one-armed teenage basketballer Zhang Jiacheng playing in a one-on-one competition was posted online, he soon became an internet sensation and gained high praise for his strong will and extraordinary skills.

The 13-year-old from the city of Yunfu even secured an invitation to hang out with the Chinese Basketball Association's (CBA) most successful team, the Guangdong Southern Tigers.

While visiting the training base, Zhang displayed his basketball skills in front of the defending champions' general manager Zhu Fangyu and coach Du Feng and also had a one-on-one battle with guard Xu Jie. He then took a photo with Guangdong Southern Tigers players and received a signed team jersey from center Yi Jianlian.

Zhang lost his right arm in an accident at the age of five, but his passion for basketball never went away and he's even registered as an athlete.

The teen addressed his physical disability, saying that shooting with one arm made his game inconsistent. That's why he made up his mind to invest more in dribble practice because the skillful way of dealing with the ball helps him penetrate more effectively and thus shoot the ball closer to the rim.

Zhang also said his favorite Chinese basketball players are Yi and the Liaoning Flying Leopards' Guo Ailun.

"Heart is always the strongest part of the body," Yi said after watching the clip of the teenager. In a message to Zhang on social media, NBA superstar Stephen Curry said: "You are an inspiration, I am rooting for you!"
