Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian, speaking on Wednesday, said the two sides made positive progress in taking effective measures to disengage frontline troops and ease the border situation.

The spokesman added that the two sides continue working towards implementing the consensus reached at the two earlier rounds of commander-level talks and made progress in effective measures by frontline troops to disengage and deescalate the situation.

China-India relationship should move forward, not backward

A serious incident between troops from both sides broke out on June 15 at Galwan Valley on the China side of the Actual Control Line after Indian border troops violated the newly-reached consensus, crossed the border and launched provocative attacks against Chinese personnel.

In a phone call between Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on June 17, Wang asked the Indian side to conduct a thorough investigation and punish those responsible. He also urged the Indian side to stop provocative actions and avoid such incidents in the future.
