Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called on college graduates across the country to integrate their personal ideals into the undertakings of the nation, encouraging them to make contributions to the country and the people.
Xi made the remarks in a reply letter to graduates at the Karamay campus of China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPBK) in Karamay, a city in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
Xi said he learnt that 118 CUPBK graduates will work at the grassroots level in Xinjiang and strive for the development of China's western region, adding that he supports their career choice.

The CUPBK began to enroll students in 2016. Among the first batch of 435 students graduating this year, 118 decided to work at the grassroots level in Xinjiang. They recently wrote a letter to Xi and expressed their determination to settle down there and contribute to the development of the border region.
