Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday extended his wish of a speedy recovery to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

In his message, Xi reiterated China's support to the French government and the French people in their fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, adding China is ready to step up cooperation with France to contribute to the global fight against the pandemic.

Macron was tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, according to the statement released by his presidential palace.

"He will continue to work and carry out his activities remotely while isolating for seven days, in accordance with national regulations," noted the statement.
